August Twirly Girl of the Month: Rosanne Chasteen by: Mama Twirl

How did you find Twirly Girls?  I was looking for yoga and dance studios through Google and Yelp when I found Twirly Girls.  11258172_10205588302721412_7934001472255603463_n

How long have you been a Twirly Girl?   Since Jan 2014

Did you pole dance before becoming a TG?

Which class(es) do you take?   I’ve tried a bunch, and always come back to Thursday twirl, and the Sunday “Bottoms Up” is awesome, and also ask regularly for private & semi-private time.

Who is your instructor, instructors?   I think I love classes with AJ and Janet because they both spend time to focus on conditioning, incorporating yoga twists & stretches that are in my wheelhouse.

Which move were you most excited to nail? Tumble into brass monkey terrified me, and trying to get it right meant trying again, and again, and again, and again. When I FINALLY was able to do it with some consistency and confidence there were several moves that just felt so much easier.

Have you taken any workshops? YES! They are always so much fun, although I think I’m more prepared this year than before, so I always look forward what’s coming next.

Which was your favorite? Jade’s class on sexy walk in heels was a blast, it was funny thinking I could never do platforms without the clunk clunk clunk, and she had us walking quietly backwards in sexy strut into a dance step by the end.

Do you like to dance in heels or barefoot? I never tried to invert in heels until Janet challenged me on the current routine I’m working on, and now it’s no big deal and actually kinda fun. I admit that having my shoe fly during a move is still not out of the question, it’s happened!

What is your favorite song to dance to? (at this moment) Right now it’s Sound of Silence the cover by Disturbed, I can close my eyes, dance and enjoy the build up of the moment.

Do you have a Pole Dream, such as performing, competing? Surviving NCPP this month. I’m turning 49 just days before I perform, so when it’s over I plan to celebrate. Wildly.

If you wanted to say something about Twirly Girls, what would it be? Love my Tribe! It is the most welcoming non-judgemental and encouraging community you can ask for. When I’m well outside my comfort zone in trying something again that maybe I’ve not been able to do before, there’s always a spotter there for me, physically & emotionally 🙂

What is your guilty pleasure? I enjoy so much, a nice glass of wine, discovering a new IPA from a brewery I’ve never heard of, rocking out with a live band in a small venue, Bottlerock, Aftershock, Outside Lands are festivals I look forward to all year… OK, I got it, for real: Counting the blisters on my hands and the bruises on my body, knowing it’s ‘cause I’m gonna get this routine down yet.
