Lori lost a significant amount of weight in 2004. After trying various workouts — none of which she loved — she found Twirly Girls and pole dance in 2009. She has been twirling ever since. At six feet tall, Bel quickly nicknamed Lori “The Viking Warrior.” Lori has written for magazines such as Vertical Art and Fitness magazine and is the creator of the blog, Confessions of a Twirly Girl, which can be found at http://lolorashel.blogspot.com. She began cosplaying as Candy of Chunky Girl Comics in 2013 and enjoys helping to boost women’s self-esteem in a world fraught with negative body image messages. Lori was invited to be a brand ambassador for Artista Apparel in 2015 (use discount code ABALM10 for 10% off non-sale items). She is also co-producer of Nor Cal’s first independently produced pole showcase, Northern California Pole Presentational (www.polenorcal.com). Lori embraces all types of dancers and enjoys encouraging (and proving wrong) those who feel they aren’t strong enough to pole dance. As she loves to say: pole dance is for everyBODY.
